The teaser for the film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was released in February 2021 and after a long wait, the trailer is finally out. Alia Bhatt returns, this time as a once vulnerable girl forced into the illegal trade who eventually overcomes her circumstances and shines as the matriarch of Kamatipura in the 1960s named Gangubai Kathiawadi. Gradually turns into Gangubai, the matriarch of the district.
The central plot of the film is not obvious from the trailer, as we only see snippets of Gangubai’s life. According to the book by S. Hussain Zaidis, Gangubai also made strong connections in the world of criminals.

Gangubai even fought to stop the movement of removing the prostitute market from Mumbai, and till today people of Kamathipura remember her for all the work she did for them. A big statue is installed in the area in her remembrance.
Gangubai Kathiawadi will be premiered at the Berlin Film Festival on February 16 and released in cinemas in India on February 25
